Looking for a new recipe to use up your over ripe bananas?
These Banana Bites were a big hit with my family! They are SO easy to make and they only take a few common ingredients!
I am always looking for healthy snack recipes to make for my family and I love that these have no added sugar. They are the perfect treat when you are craving something sweet.
I have tried quite a few healthy recipes that are bland and don’t have much taste so my family is always a little skeptical. The finished product often ends up looking nothing like the beautiful Pinterest picture! 🙂
I originally found this recipe on a facebook page but I don’t remember which one. I made a few tweaks to the recipe to get the right consistency and flavor. They taste like a dense banana muffin.
This is the perfect way to use up those couple over-ripe bananas you have sitting on your kitchen counter top.
Easy Banana Bites Recipe
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 1/3 cups quick oatmeal
- 2 T natural or regular peanut butter
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips
- pinch of sea salt (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mash the bananas really well in a bowl. Add the oatmeal, peanut butter, and salt (if using); mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Form the dough into small balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes until just set. Don’t over bake or they may be dry.
Store in the fridge or freezer.
Note: The dough will be sticky but you should be able to form it into soft balls. If the bananas are large or the dough doesn’t seem firm enough, you may want to add a little more oatmeal.
