I have always been a pretty active person and love spending time outdoors. I never had to worry too much about my weight or what I ate (although I should have) until I started approaching 40. I had developed some unhealthy eating habits and most likely a slowing metabolism. I noticed that I had a lot less energy, was tired often, and didn’t have the muscle strength I used to.
My Wake Up Call:
About the same time I had a real “wake up call”. My mother in law passed away after a very painful battle with cancer. It was a changing point in my life. It really opened my eyes to the harmful chemicals and things I was exposing myself (and my family) to on a daily basis with some of the food and drink choices we were making.
Getting Fit & Healthy after 40:
I started taking steps to live a healthier life. I wanted to be a better example for my children. I wanted to teach them to make healthier choices and take care of the body and mind that God gave them. We started to cut out a lot of sugar, processed food, and soda. I have to say that especially my teens were not totally on board with this BUT we are making progress! 🙂
Breaking bad habits can be hard!
Stepping it up:
I was power walking, running, and doing some at home workout dvds but it was kind of hit and miss. I would do good for a while and then I would let the busyness of life get in the way.
I decided to step it up and join an online fitness challenge group. It was just what I needed to help me stay motivated and accountable – not only to working out but also eating healthier. I completed the T25 workout program and had great results. I have more energy and I feel great!
I am far from perfect and I still struggle from time to time but I am excited about the changes that I have experienced so far – and I am not finished yet! To me, it is not about a number on the scale, it is more about how I feel. This journey has been much more than a physical journey, it is a mental and spiritual journey as well.
I want to continue what I have started and help other moms getting healthy and fit so I decided to become a fitness coach.
I have a passion to encourage & help other moms to live a healthy, balanced life both physically & spiritually…by eating healthier, staying active and connecting with God daily!
I believe that when we look & feel our best…we are able to give our best to God, others, and our families!
I would love to have YOU join me in my next Faith & Fitness Challenge Group.
