As a busy mom I am always looking for ways to save time and make things run smoother – especially in the kitchen!
Today I want to share a time saving tip that has made my life a little easier and has eliminated some stress for me.
I work out of the house on Tuesday's and didn't like coming home at 5:30 and not always knowing what to make for dinner. Picking up take-out food was just not in the budget and not my idea of feeding my family a healthy meal. Sometimes I would plan ahead and have something in the crockpot for the day but that didn't always happen. As my children have gotten older, there are often nights where one (or more) of them need to be somewhere at night and there isn't always a lot of time either.
Last year I came up with a plan that has been working great! Tuesday's have now become – Taco Tuesday!
It doesn't take much time and it is very easy!
Once a month I will fry up a bunch of ground beef or venison and season it with Taco seasoning. Then I package it in containers for the freezer. On Tuesday mornings I will grab a container of taco meat out of the freezer and put it in the fridge for the day.
When I get home, I simply heat the meat in a pan. (Or sometimes one of my awesome kids will have it all ready when I get home)!
Then we use the meat for some type of taco-related meal:
- Easy Taco Bake
- Tacos with Hard Corn Taco Shells
- Soft Shell Tortilla Tacos
- Taco Salad
We usually have some sort of fresh fruit or veggies along with our meal so it is very simple and quick!
My family loves Taco's and they never get sick of this system. It has worked so well for our family and has saved both money and time for us on this busy night of the week!
